Boys Basketball-Off Season
The off season is the most important time for individual improvement.
Off Season Opportunities:
- Weight Room- participate any time you are not in a sport.
- Summer Leagues- 1 to 2 nights a week
- Counselors at Youth Camps-summer
- 5 contact days with high school coaches- summer
- Team Camp- summer (varies from year-to-year)
- Open Gym/Practice with summer league coach- summer and fall
- Individual workouts, shooting and ball handling- year round
Summer Philosophies-Goals
- We want to develop chemistry as early as possible as we will have new players to the varsity team.
- Play hard each and every game. These games are a great opportunity to get noticed.
- Try to keep team(s) size down or have alternating nights so that playing time opportunities are possible for all players.
- Observe who is committed to improvement and to the team.
- If a coach does not like the way a player is playing in terms of effort, have a discussion as soon as possible.
- Players need to play their positions but also be flexible in giving someone a chance to work on new skills or positions.
- Playing time does not need to be equal, but everyone will play a good amount.
