Boys Basketball-Off Season 

The off season is the most important time for individual improvement.

 

Off Season Opportunities:

 

  1. Weight Room- participate any time you are not in a sport.
  2. Summer Leagues- 1 to 2 nights a week
  3. Counselors at Youth Camps-summer
  4. 5 contact days with high school coaches- summer
  5. Team Camp- summer (varies from year-to-year)
  6. Open Gym/Practice with summer league coach- summer and fall
  7. Individual workouts, shooting and ball handling- year round

Summer Philosophies-Goals

 

  1. We want to develop chemistry as early as possible as we will have new players to the varsity team.
  2. Play hard each and every game. These games are a great opportunity to get noticed.
  3. Try to keep team(s) size down or have alternating nights so that playing time opportunities are possible for all players.
  4. Observe who is committed to improvement and to the team.
  5. If a coach does not like the way a player is playing in terms of effort, have a discussion as soon as possible.
  6. Players need to play their positions but also be flexible in giving someone a chance to work on new skills or positions.
  7. Playing time does not need to be equal, but everyone will play a good amount.
